We collect information you provide directly to us, including: • Account information: name, email address, phone number, and password when you register. • Business information: business name, description, category, photos, and address details you add to your listing. • Payment information: transaction references and payment method identifiers (we do not store full card numbers). • Communications: messages you send to our support team. We also collect information automatically, including IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and pages visited on the Platform.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: • Operate, maintain, and improve the Meleket Gebeya Platform. • Process payments and manage your subscription. • Display your business listing to customers. • Send you service-related emails (account confirmations, payment receipts, expiry reminders). • Respond to your support requests. • Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve user experience. • Comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in the following circumstances: • With payment processors (Chapa, Stripe) to complete transactions. • With service providers who assist us in operating the Platform (hosting, analytics, email delivery). • When required by law, court order, or governmental authority. • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — you will be notified before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy. Business listing information (name, location, photos, description) is publicly visible on the Platform by design.
4. Location Data
When you add a business location, you provide geographic coordinates that are stored and displayed publicly on the Platform map. If you use the "Use My Current Location" feature, your device location is accessed only at the moment you request it and is not continuously tracked or stored on our servers beyond what you explicitly save.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and business information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes. Payment records are retained for 7 years in accordance with Ethiopian financial regulations.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), hashed password storage, and access controls to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to: • Access the personal information we hold about you. • Correct inaccurate information in your account. • Delete your account and associated data. • Object to certain processing of your data. • Export your data in a portable format.
